In Loving Memory of Lola Grace Hoskins Klein Memorial for Grace
(Speare) McLellan, Klein 1904 to 2002 Grace was born on
the Speare family farm at RR#1 Cromarty, Perth County, Ontario, Canada.
December 19, 1904. Daughter of Joseph Speare & Laura (Dinnen)Speare,
one of 6 Children. Her mother died when she was 12 and Grandma Dinnen came
to live with the family. Grace married
Andrew McLellan in March of 1922. He died in a boating accident in 1950.
Grace was in the boat too, and survived the accident. They had 5
children:- Barbara Grace; Laura Margaret; Helen Doreen, Died December
2002; William Joseph Ross; Ada Mae. She married
William Klein in December 25, 1951. They were married in the United Church
in Egmondville, Ontario. William died of cancer in 1972. Grace loved to
travel and had some great trips. One to England in 1975 to visit a Home
Boy from Sheffield. He had worked on the Speare family farm and went back
to England during the first World War as a Bandsman with the Perth
Regiment. He never returned to Canada. She was in Hawaii
and visited 4 of the islands while she was there. Toured Alaska and the
Yukon Territory, cruised the inside passage a couple of times. Took bus
trips to California and was coast to coast in Canada. She treated all
her family equally. Her Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great
Grandchildren were her pride and joy. They all have quilts that she made.
That was one of her hobbies. For years, when she was able her and William
grew 1000's of gladiolus. She loved playing cards (Euchre). She was a avid
Curler and curled until she was 83. She was active in
the Presbyterian Church Women's Institute. She also belonged to the
Rebecca Lodge. She never found
fault with anyone, her family, friends, or neighbors. What you did or the
way you lived was your business. She will be missed
be all who knew her.
