Ralph Speare 1808-1882

Ralph is the 3rd child of Richard Speare & Mary Ward.  He was baptised 3rd July 1808 in Inwardleigh, Devon.  Ralph was married to Elizabeth Davey in 1846 in Devon.  They had 3 daughters

I have been unable to locate Ralph at the time of the 1841 Census.  I did find him 10 years later in 1851 living in Upton Pyne with his wife Elizabeth & 2 daughters.  Ralph was shown as an Attendant to Lunatics.   The Head of household was Elizabeth Roberts who is probably related to Joseph Roberts who married Ralph's sister Mary.

The next time I am able to find Ralph on a census is in 1871.  Ralph & Elizabeth are now living at 10 Northgate Street in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.  The 3 daughters are still living with them they also have 3 servants.

10 years later Ralph & Elizabeth are living at 2 Colville Gardens, Kensington, London.  Annie & Mary are also living with them.  Mary is Principal of a School which is based at the same address.  The other daughter Sarah was a School Governess living in Holdenhurst, Hampshire.

Ralph Speare passed away on 11th December 1882 at 2 Colville Gardens, Kensington, London.  Elizabeth, Ralph's wife died in 1897 in Richmond District, London
