Richard Speare 1806-1854

Richard was the 2nd child of Richard Speare & Mary Ward.  He was baptised in Inwardleigh on 2nd March 1806.  Richard was married to Ann Joslin on 9th February 1831 in Upton Pyne, Devon.

In 1841 Richard & Ann are living at West Rowhorn, Whitestone with daughters Mary, Eliza, Joanna, Ann & Sarah.  Richard is shown as an Agricultural Labourer living next door to his sisters Grace & Mary.

10 years later in 1851 Richard & Ann are still living in Whitestone now in Church Bridge Cottage.  They only have on child living with them Mary.  Their son Daniel Speare was living with his Aunt & Uncle George & Eliza Finnimore in Whitestone. The family next door is Thomas & Ann Carpenter I am not sure if Thomas is related to Richards Grandmother Mary Carpenter.

Ann Spear daughter of Richard & Ann was a servant to Mary Sprague in 1851 living at Red Hills, Exeter St Thomas the Apostle.

Richard & Ann had both died before the 1861 census.  Only 2 of their children Ann & Daniel lived to adulthood and had families.  Details are below.
